Interlaw’s Indian Firm Acts on Trio of Renewable Energy Deals

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Interlaw’s partner firm in India, has acted on a number of deals that will spearhead the country’s renewable energy ambitions.

It advised Assam Bio-Refinery Private Limited - a joint venture between Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Fortum 3 B.V., Netherlands and Chempolis OY, Finland - on successfully raising a term loan of INR 3037.50 Crore from Power Finance Corporation Limited for its Bio- Refinery plant for 2G Bioethanol production and other products in Numaligarh, Assam.   

The transaction team was led by partner Girish Rawat, who was assisted by managing associate Varun Chauhan and associate Garima Upadhyay.   

The firm also acted for HDFC Bank in connection with financial assistance of INR 4180 Million granted to a special purpose vehicle (SPV) of leading renewable energy services company, Blupine Energy, for its 120 MW solar project in Sadla, Gujarat. The team again consisted of Girish Rawat, Varun Chauhan and Garima Upadhyay, alongside associate Radha Murali.   

Finally, the firm acted for Radiance Renewables, managed by Eversource Capital, in relation to financial assistance availed by two SPVs from Axis Bank and Standard Chartered. This aggregated to INR 7150 Million in connection with a solar power park with an installed capacity of 150MW, along with interconnection facilities being set-up in Mol- Manjarwadi, Maharashtra. 

Again led by Girish Rawat, he was assisted by senior associate, Ashneet Chhabra and associate, Pranav Dwivedi.
