Interlaw Appoints New Asia Pacific IP / IT Chair from Australian Partner Firm
Tyrone Walker, special counsel at Hunt & Hunt, Interlaw’s partner firm in Australia, has been appointed at the new Asia Pacific chair of the global network’s IP / IT special business team.
As an award-winning intellectual property lawyer, Tyrone has acted for both national and international companies including globally recognized brands such as Coca-Cola, Toyota and Gucci. He advises on a range of IP matters, from trademark infringements, copyright litigation and advertising complaints, to franchising and licensing disputes, and corporate name, social media and domain name objections. Interlaw’s IP / IT group provides both strategic advice spanning all aspects of IP law, as well as specialist IT and telecoms legal counsel for multinational clients.
In his role, Tyrone will work alongside the global and other regional chairs to promote the capabilities of Interlaw’s international team of expert IP and IT lawyers.
Commenting on his appointment, Tyrone said: “Interlaw’s IP / IT team is already well-established and hugely respected. We are in a unique position of being able to call on experts in multiple jurisdictions across the world to advise on some of the most complex IP and IT legal issues.”
“Our IP team has substantial experience in acting on matters in many different international courts, while our IT experts can help clients navigate the constantly evolving legal landscape in the technology, media and telecoms sectors. I am looking forward to working alongside our global chair, Hans Dhont, and my fellow regional chairs to shine a light on the collective expertise of our global team.”
